CBC Radio One hosts the 17th Annual CBC Radio Food Bank Day
On Friday, December 5, CBC Radio One’s local and regional programs and hosts will focus on raising awareness, food and dollars for food banks throughout British Columbia. CBC staffers will take pledge calls on toll-free lines and donations will also be accepted online. All money contributed can be designated to one of the 86 food banks throughout the province. More...

A drop-in centre that provides a safe atmosphere for up to 200 female sex trade workers each night in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside is the winner of this year's $1-million VanCity Award. The WISH (Women's Information Safe House) Drop-In Centre will use the award to open a 24/7 shelter and wellness centre offering a permanent women's health clinic and refuge from today's escalating violence.
