2004 Spirit of VancouverTM Awards Categories
Individual Spirit Award(s)
Recognizes outstanding individual contribution to the spirit of Vancouver during the past year. Presented to individuals who have demonstrated the best characteristics of community commitment, creativity and volunteerism.
Corporation Award
Given in recognition of a generous corporate contribution that contributes in a significant way to the community spirit of Vancouver. Presented to corporations that demonstrate ongoing leadership and community service in their contribution of time, talent and resources.
Community Organization Award
Presented in recognition of an outstanding single or ongoing community contribution that benefits the spirit of Vancouver. Public or not-for-profit community organizations receiving this award demonstrate their ongoing commitment through their investment of creativity, volunteerism and exciting new ideas that benefit the community.
Special Event Award
Presented in recognition of a unique or outstanding event that adds to the overall community spirit and celebration of Vancouver. The special event award is given to an event that demonstrates creativity, an ability to capture the imagination of the community and sponsors, and the potential for both short and long-term success.
Media Award
Presented in recognition of an outstanding ongoing contribution to the overall spirit of Vancouver, local issues and community events. The Spirit of VancouverTM Media Award recognizes the important role local media play in highlighting and showcasing the community, as well as its leaders, issues and opportunities.
Mike Horsey Free Spirit Award
Named for one of the most creative executives in British Columbia, Mike Horsey, the Free Spirit Award honours an individual, organization or event that demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the spirit of creativity, and particularly the out-of-the-box thinking that typified Mike Horsey.
Rules and Regulations
- The decision of the judges is final.
- All nominations must be received at The Vancouver Board of Trade office by 5 p.m. on May 31, 2004.
- All submitted entries, are the property of The Vancouver Board of Trade and may be used by The Vancouver Board of Trade for whatever purpose in connection with The Vancouver Board of Trade’s Spirit of VancouverTM Awards or its promotion. The Vancouver Board of Trade retains the right to publish the name of nominees and recipients.
- All entries must include their complete mailing address.
- Photos submitted as part of the entry cannot be returned and remain the property of The Vancouver Board of Trade.
- All nominees must be available to receive the award at the Spirit of Vancouver Awards event (date to be confirmed).
