A sold-out crowd greeted the African Children's Choir as the group came onstage to perform for their 20th anniversary fundraising concert at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, September 25. Cops for Cancer Tour for a Friend rolls into Vancouver
Seventeen law enforcement officers from B.C. communities participated in this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour for a Friend cycling journey, in support of Camp Goodtimes, a camp for children with cancer. And for a second year, Vancouver Canuck Trevor Linden and 10-year-old leukemia survivor Victoria Fawkes were the Tour’s honorary co-chairs. TELUS Tour for the Cure sends a message: Detection is your best protection
It’s a fact that mammograms help prevent breast cancer deaths. That’s why the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, BC/Yukon Chapter recently launched the "TELUS Tour for the Cure," in partnership with TELUS and the Province of British Columbia. Terry Fox's dream of curing cancer still running
Terry Fox, the legendary Canadian who ran across the country on a prosthetic leg, dreamt of a world free of cancer. The Terry Fox Foundation keeps Terry Fox’s dream alive by organizing the annual Terry Fox Run. The Run will take place on Sunday, September 19 this year in over 130 locations in the B.C./Yukon region. The City of Vancouver will be hosting an Open House to garner input from the public on the three concepts presented for the Granville Street Redesign Project. The Open House will occur on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m at the Scotia Dance Centre, 1196 Granville Street (at Davie), 7th Floor.

Three hundred volunteers are needed for the 19th AIDS WALK in Stanley Park on Sunday, September 26, 2004. Volunteers ensure that over 5,000 people on site have a great time while raising funds for direct services for persons living with AIDS, and are needed for various shifts on the day of the event as well as the months leading up to the walk. Discover Espace Musique — Radio-Canada's music network
CBC/Radio-Canada today unveiled its new French-language FM radio service, Espace musique (90.9 FM in Montreal — 88.9 FM in Victoria). This music-driven network will make its on-air debut September 7, 2004. Lively and listener-friendly, Espace musique will be unique in the radio market. Programming will emphasize musical diversity, encompassing such genres as Classical, Jazz, Chanson francophone and World, and devote itself to music by emerging artists.
