The ballroom of the Westin Bayshore Resort & Marina was filled to capacity with Orcas and eager guests at the first Orcas in the City Auction & Gala on October 12. BC Lions Society, with the help of Barry Scott of Maynard Auctioneers, put 31 Orcas on the auction block and raised $250,000 for the Lions Society's Easter Seal Operations and the Canucks for Kids Fund. The Spirit of 2010 Tournament was announced today at the West End Community Centre ice rink in Vancouver by Premier Gordon Campbell, Marc Crawford, head coach of the Vancouver Canucks and Marion Lay, president of 2010 LegaciesNow. Spring break hockey tournaments across B.C. have been invited to help promote their sport — more than 30,000 youngsters and 150 local tournaments are expected to be a part of the hockey tournament, which runs over the 2005 spring break.
