Canada Place celebrates National Flag Day

Canada Place Corporation

Canada Place Corporation and its partner stakeholders are celebrating National Flag Day on Tuesday, February 15. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Canada Flag.

To mark the occasion, Canada Place Corporation will place a giant Canadian flag on the façade of Canada Place, with Canadian flags flying proudly on all flagpoles. As well, Canada flags will be available and distributed at Canada Place.

"Canada Place Corporation and its stakeholders are pleased to pay tribute to the flag on its 40th anniversary," says Mike Shardlow, Canada Place Corporation president and COO. "Like our flag, Canada Place has become a visible and cherished symbol of our national pride. Canada Place is quite simply 'Canada’s Place' and it is important that we celebrate this milestone."

"National Flag Day offers an opportunity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Canadian flag — a celebration of a fundamental part of our Canadian identity," says Stephen Owen, federal minister and MP for Vancouver Quadra. "Over the years, our flag has become a prominent and enduring symbol of our shared Canadian values and diversity here in Vancouver, across our great country and around the world."

Canada flags will be available at each of the following locations at Canada Place:

  • Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre
  • Pan Pacific Hotel
  • Canada Place IMAX Theatre
  • Vancouver Port Authority Interpretive Centre
  • Canada Place Corporation
  • World Trade Centre Office Complex
  • Citipark Parking Facility
