Media Release May 26, 2006, Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver 17th Annual Festival d'été — featuring Robert Charlebois Tout Écartillé and Les Trois Accords with their album Gros Mammouth
Event: Le Festival d'été In tune with the latest musical trends, Vancouver's 2006 Festival d'été will once again bring you a full slate of celebrities and up-and-coming artists. This year, the Festival is thrilled and honoured to host the legendary Quebec performer, Robert Charlebois. His show Tout écartillé will take you back — or perhaps introduce you for the first time — to his repertoire from the 60s and 70s, with renditions that rock more now than ever before! This show has been a smash hit ever since it opened in Quebec. For openers, we will bring you Les Trois Accords, a group of young performers who received accolades at the 2005 ADISQ Festival for Group of the Year, Best Album and Best Seller for their Gros Mammouth Album. And as a special treat, the evening will start with the winners of the 2006 Pacifique en chanson competition, who will showcase their talent and perform their own compositions as well as other repertoire. For the very youngest members of the audience, on June 17, Jean-Pierre Makosso and several other artists will be giving workshops for the Children's Fest that reflect the rich multiculturalism of the Francophone world.
On June 15, Melonai Brisdon will delight her fans once again with an eclectic range of musical styles and rhythms in a show to launch her new album l'Afroditez. To mark the occasion of Portuguese Heritage Month, Le Centre is joining forces with the Alliance Française and the Portuguese Benevolent Society to celebrate the Music Fest with Suzana Da Camara, a singer from Ontario with Portuguese roots. And of course, like every year, this year's Francophone Summer Festival will close on a joyful note with the traditional Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day celebration. We are looking forward to welcoming you, one and all! More shows will be announced at a later date. Le Festival d'été Calendar of Events Thursday, June 15, 8 p.m.: Mélonai Brisdon l'Afroditez at Studio 16 (1551 West 7th Avenue)
