2006 Ethics in Action Awards celebrates B.C. business contributions to community

2006 Ethics in Action Awards

From a long list of applicants, 13 finalists have been chosen for the 2006 Ethics in Action Awards. Awarded for leadership in social and environmental practices, this year’s awards finalists range from restaurateurs, to coffee suppliers, to members of the hospitality industry.

The awards ceremony, which takes place on November 8, 2006 at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver, recognizes business contributions to community and the environment. Awards are up for grabs in four categories:

  • Overall Leadership
  • Community Care
  • Environmental Excellence
  • Individual Impact

Awards candidates are chosen for outstanding contributions to the community and for incorporating practices that minimize environmental impact. Such contributions range from supporting education within the community, to ensuring fair wages for employees and suppliers, to the exclusive use of environmentally sustainable products.

Whatever their contributions, Ethics in Action Awards finalists set an example for all members of the business community. Finalist summaries can be found online at www.ethicsinaction.com.

The Ethics in Action 2006 Awards will be held on November 8 at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.ethicsinaction.com or by contacting BC Event Management at 604-696-1234.

The BC Ethics in Action Awards were formed in 1994 to recognize B.C. businesses and business leaders who exemplify good corporate citizenship and community values. A non-profit organization, the Ethics in Action Awards Society’s annual awards ceremony attracts media coverage from across Canada, as well as high-profile attendees from both the public and private sectors.
