Arc 2’s "Stripped" Concert Series traces roots of music

Stripped Concert Series 2007

From down-south blues to modern pop, the upcoming Stripped Concert Series 2007 traces the evolution of popular music culture. These live, unplugged concerts produced by Arc 2 Intertainment take place year-round in chic, intimate venues around Vancouver. Each of the three upcoming concerts feature different forms of creative talent, from dance, to art, to fashion runway, all set against powerful musical performances.

Stripped Volume Eleven is entitled "Blues"; this first installment held at Ginger 62 on January 11, 2007 features Jen Fair, Tamara Rhodes and Jessi Nicholson of Soul Sistas, who explore the roots of popular music with live gospel, jazz, blues and R&B, while dancers hit the floor with everything from hip hop to break dance. As the official sponsor of Stripped 2007, Gibson Guitar will be donating a guitar for raffle at each event, signed by the featured musicians. This concert benefits the Nilsson Foundation/ALS Society of BC.

Andy Chu, creator/producer of Stripped and CEO of Arc 2 Intertainment says, "We’re honoured to bring together so many talented artists, and excited about the diversity of this year’s theme — there’s something for everyone."

Tamara Rhodes says, "We’ve performed in previous Stripped, as well as the finale, FMA Vancouver, and it’s amazing to see how the events have evolved and grown over the past three years. It’s ambitious and rewarding to be a part of it, especially as there’s nothing else like this for artists or audiences in Vancouver."

After this winter’s Blues, Stripped Volume Twelve, "Rock," continues the evolution this spring, introducing a harder, grittier sound to the stage in a classic downtown venue. "Pop," Stripped Volume Thirteen, promises to explode the senses this summer in a veritable Mardi Gras of colourful performances from disco to swing, at an outdoor waterfront venue.

The whole series builds up to the fall finale, FMA Vancouver. This huge benefit gala event unites live music with live fashion runway and artistic performances all on one stage. In the past three years, FMA has grown to showcase international designers such as Reem Acra, along with local emerging talents.

Arts Umbrella

SOV Partner

Arts Umbrella is Canada’s pre-eminent arts institute for young people, ages 2 to 19.

Participating in the arts brings our students joy and excitement. We also know that arts education can have a positive impact on academic acheivements and personal growth. At Arts Umbrella, we imagine a world where all children have access to these life-inspiring opportunities. So while thousands of children participate in our tuition-based programming on Granville Island each year, we reach thousands more in their neighbourhoods through free programs, bringing the arts to kids who otherwise would not be able to participate. We can only make this happen with the support of donors, sponors and community members who share our vision and contribute to the ongoing health of Arts Umbrella; they’re helping us reach our goal of "inspiring kids for life."
