Riding to Break the Cycle
Founded in October of 2006 by a passionate group of Vancouver university students and graduates, Agents of Change is a rapidly growing non-profit launching its ambitious first project, Riding to Break the Cycle.

On May 3, 2007, 22 young people are beginning a 3,000-kilometre cycling trip from the Vancouver Art Gallery to Tijuana, Mexico, building awareness and a $1,000,000 fund for global microcredit initiatives. Microcredit works to empower developing world entrepreneurs to pull themselves and their families out of poverty by delivering small, trust-based loans. With large and small events planned down the west coast and support events across the continent, this project promises to have high visibility and provide tangible results.

Kickoff Ride

Date: May 3, 2007 at 12 noon
Venue: The Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC

Join us in breaking the cycle of poverty. Bring your bike as we cycle around and out of the downtown core, or just come down to show your support. Wear the colour green as a sign of support! Be an agent of change.

Spirit of Vancouver Partner

British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC)

SOV Founding Partner

British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) provides great lottery, casino and bingo entertainment, fun experiences and the chance to win prizes. We also generate significant net income for government programs that benefit British Columbians every day.

Each year, BCLC net income is distributed to government to benefit programs for health, education, social, community, charitable and municipal purposes. Government directs a significant portion to consolidated revenue and the Health Special Account.

Some 6,000 charitable and community organizations share in the profits from gaming revenue through community gaming grants. These groups work to provide valuable community services in the areas of arts, culture and sport, public safety, human and social services, parent advisory committees in schools, and major capital projects.

Since 1985, more than $9 billion in BCLC net income has been generated for the public good.
