Arts Club education program receives generous donation

Arts Club Theatre Company
The Arts Club Theatre Company is pleased to announce that RBC Foundation has donated $10,000 in support of the upcoming 2007/2008 season. This generous donation will go toward the Arts Club’s LEAP: Playwriting Intensive, an exciting program designed to encourage playwriting among high school students.

Guided by professional playwright and teacher Elaine Avila, students in grades 10–12 participate in a series of classroom discussions, attend Arts Club productions and workshops, and receive feedback online about their plays from professional playwrights. LEAP culminates in a public reading of the students’ works by professional actors.

Rachel Ditor, the Arts Club’s literary manager, remarked: "Students have stories to tell — they have experiences and perspectives about the world that we need to hear. This wonderful gift will allow them a means to express their passion, intelligence, and creativity. We are so grateful for RBC’s support."
