Captain George Vancouver's 250^th birthday

You are cordially invited to a reception to honour Captain George Vancouver's 250^th birthday. On display will be the Segal/Legge collection from the series by John M. Horton depicting Captain Vancouver’s exploration of our coast, along with Captain Vancouver artifacts from the Maritime Museum’s collection.

Monday, June 18, 2007, 7 to 9 p.m.
Vancouver Maritime Museum, 1905 Ogden Avenue in Vanier Park
Opening remarks will be performed by Rear-Admiral Roger Girouard, Commander, Maritime Forces Pacific at 7:30 p.m.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) provides great lottery, casino and bingo entertainment, fun experiences and the chance to win prizes. We also generate significant net income for government programs that benefit British Columbians every day.

Each year, BCLC net income is distributed to government to benefit programs for health, education, social, community, charitable and municipal purposes. Government directs a significant portion to consolidated revenue and the Health Special Account.

Some 6,000 charitable and community organizations share in the profits from gaming revenue through community gaming grants. These groups work to provide valuable community services in the areas of arts, culture and sport, public safety, human and social services, parent advisory committees in schools, and major capital projects.

Since 1985, more than $9 billion in BCLC net income has been generated for the public good.
