PNE at the Vancouver Art Gallery
|
A Fair way to spend the day
The Pacific National Exhibition wowed Vancouver's business crowd on July 24 when it took its show on the road, staging a mini-Fair on the Vancouver Art Gallery lawn. Showing its Vancouver spirit and signaling the coming of the 87th annual Fair (August 17 to September 2), the PNE hosted free Ferris Wheel rides and entertainment and sold cotton candy, popcorn and midway games for $1 — with net proceeds going to charity. Several thousand Vancouverites and tourists took in the unusual event, which stopped cars and tour buses along Georgia Street. The event received kudos from the Vancouver Art Gallery, participants and passers-by.
