TOUGH TALK FOR TENDER CAUSES™, THE CASE FOR NEW COMMUNICATION TOOLS: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook and Social Networking

Michael Allison Stephen Jagger John Starkey

Communications tools are changing, and so are the people using them.

Whether it’s staying connected with staff, volunteers, supporters or donors, every organization needs to take a closer look at the new tools that are changing both business and personal relationships. So, what are these new technologies and tools, how do they work, who’s the audience, and which ones are best for Vancouver’s not-for-profit sector?

As part of the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Tough Talk for Tender Causes™ series, the Case for New Communication Tools panel includes:

Michael Allison, Communications Co-ordinator, Pace Group
Stephen P. Jagger, Founding Partner, Reachd.com
John Starkey, President, FCV Technologies

Moderator: Colleen Coplick, Blogger, Buzznetworker.com, B5Media Network

Sing Tao Daily

The oldest and largest Chinese daily in Canada
Since its establishment in Toronto on August 1, 1978, and its expansion to Vancouver in 1983 and Calgary in 1988, Sing Tao Daily has become the largest and best-known Chinese language newspaper in Canada. It has also been affiliated with the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest English daily since April 1998.

Sing Tao Daily leads the way in editorial quality and in-depth reporting and its B.C. edition was recently awarded "Best Reporting — Chinese Language" by the prestigious Jack Webster Awards 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Sing Tao Daily is the only truly international Chinese newspaper that provides readers with up-to-the-minute news from around the world through its worldwide news network.

In a readership survey conducted by Environics Research Group (one of Canada’s leading public opinion research companies) in October 2005, results revealed that Sing Tao Daily is the favourite newspaper amongst Chinese Canadians. With a readership of 182,000 in the Greater Vancouver area, Sing Tao reaches 53% of all Chinese on an average week, 29% higher than the next leading Chinese daily. It is truly your number one choice in reaching the entire Chinese community!
