  Managers' Toolbox

Speaker:

Karin Kirkpatrick, peopleTHiNK Human Capital Consulting

Topic:

TO E-MAIL OR NOT TO E-MAIL:) Essential business communication skills for a technological world

The era of e-mail and text messages has wreaked havoc on our ability to effectively communicate in a professional and business-like manner. The lines are blurred as to when a letter is appropriate over an e-mail and what type and tone of language is best. Whether you are communicating to a colleague, your boss, your employees, a client, or a prospective employer, this session will cover the fundamental questions you must consider before choosing your mode, style and tone of communication.

Karin Kirkpatrick, principal of PeopleTHiNK Human Capital Consulting, is an experienced facilitator, teacher and entrepreneur. In this session, she will focus on what is appropriate communication in different situations.

You will learn how to:

  • Develop written materials that ensure you are making the right impression
  • Communicate verbally on the telephone, in voice mails and in other business situations
  • Maximize your image as a solid business communicator

Who should attend: Professionals, entrepreneurs and managers who want to develop an effective communication strategy for their business that can be applied to both old and new technology.

About the Speaker: As Assistant Dean, Sauder School of Business at UBC, Karin led the re-branding project with the naming of the school, and is still involved with the new Centre for CEO Leadership.

"To live full-out, we must live with INTEGRITY honouring our Greater Self. We must live our true heart's desire."

Many of us don’t think about our own needs and desires.  Our life is placed on the back-burner leaving us feeling empty & frustrated.  Knowing ‘peace of mind’ is realizing our life is based on the choices we make & the action we take.

As a Life Coach, I support your vision holding you accountable to ‘living your life’, stretching to new possibilities of creativity & productivity.  You move from talking about the game of life to playing the game.
