The Honourable Michael Wilson, Canadian Ambassador to the United States of America
Topic:
THE B.C. GATEWAY TO NORTH AMERICAN PROSPERITY
The Honourable Michael Wilson, Canadian Ambassador to the United States of America, will share his perspective from Washington, D.C. on key issues of interest to British Columbia. Last year, B.C. exported nearly $31 billion dollars in goods alone – over 60 per cent of those exports went to the United States, the Province's largest international market by far. B.C. also shares a border with four U.S. states, a simple fact that may account for the high degree of Canadian-U.S. co-operation in the Northwest region on issues such as enhanced drivers licences or coordination of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Finally, the multi-billion-dollar Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative is Canada’s flagship project in national infrastructure. The gateway and corridor are essential for Canada’s prosperity within North America.
