Join Pierre Gratton, President of the Mining Association of British Columbia, when he releases the industry's annual report for 2009, provides an outlook for the year ahead and talks about the renaissance in B.C. mining.

The provincial mining sector, rebounding quickly from last year's economic crisis, is back where it left off in 2008, on track for continued growth and expansion. B.C.'s metallurgical coal sector – in the top three worldwide – expands amidst continuing global demand that barely ebbed in 2009. Our copper industry is poised to increase by about 30 per cent over the next two-to-four years as new projects come on stream, while existing copper and molybdenum mines expand and, in some cases, even double production.

As the mining business overtakes forestry as a contributor to provincial revenues, we are truly witnessing a revival in B.C. mining that observers would never have predicted a decade ago.
