From the ongoing devastation in the Gulf of Mexico to growing concerns about water shortages, there’s never been a more important time to examine the critical role water plays in our communities and our economy. Join National Geographic emerging explorer Alexandra Cousteau as she shares anecdotes and imagery from around the world to drive home how innovation in water management, restoration and protection of critical systems, and development of new water quality and pollution-reducing technologies are the keys to growing economies and building sustainable communities.
As a tribute to the 100th birthday of her grandfather Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Alexandra and Blue Legacy have partnered with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to launch a 138-day Expedition chronicling water issues across the U.S. and Canada. The project – Expedition Blue Planet: North America – will take the Blue Legacy team more than 14,500 miles aboard their rolling “Calypso,” a biodiesel tour bus outfitted for in-the-field film production and live web broadcast.
