Muzyka greets the Young Global
Leaders at a reception hosted by
the Sauder School of Business
The Annual Summit of the Young Global Leaders, in Vancouver for the first time, kicked off Thursday night hosted by the Sauder School of Business. Vancouver Board of Trade chairman Daniel F. Muzyka, in his capacity as dean of Sauder School of Business, welcomed the young leaders, along with special guest B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell. View photos
More than 100 Young Global Leaders, including business people, futurists, scientists, architects and authors, will explore the latest world developments and innovations set to transform the future during the three-day conference from June 9 to 11 involving speakers and workshops.
Muzyka introduced three young global leaders: John Bryant, founder, chairman and CEO, Operation Hope, USA; Michelle Guthrie, CEO, Star Group Ltd., Hong King SAR; and Nasreen Siddeek-Barwari, minister of municipalities and public works of Iraq, before it was time to network and share experiences with the audience. Many of these were familiar faces at The Board of Trade (see photos), including students from The Board’s Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program.
The Forum of Young Global Leaders, an offshoot of the World Economic Forum, is made up of exceptional individuals drawn from every region in the world. They are all under 40 years old, have demonstrated a commitment to serving the community in a leadership capacity (some having had to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds), and are willing to devote their energy and expertise to tackling critical issues facing the world.
