Province announces harmonized sales tax
On July 23, 2009, the British Columbia government announced the implementation of a harmonized sales tax for B.C. starting July 1, 2010. The model used will be the similar to that of the Province of Ontario and GST filing rules will apply. While in aggregate, harmonization is beneficial to business, some sectors will be negatively impacted and mitigation required. Your comments on tax harmonization will help inform The Vancouver board of Trade committees who are examining this and help us work with the provincial government to mitigate any adverse impacts.
