In his first appearance at The Vancouver Board of Trade, Montana businessman Dennis Washington reflected on the incredible growth of his company, which has evolved into an international conglomerate with significant importance in Western Canada and, specifically, Vancouver.

Washington, chairman of Washington Group International, talked about how this giant on Vancouver's waterfront has become a leader in performance, production efficiency and low-cost service. Washington spoke at a Board of Trade Distinguished SpeakerTM luncheon sponsored by Bull, Housser & Tupper.

The Washington Companies, a phrase used to describe all of the individual companies in which Washington holds a significant ownership position, have grown and diversified by focusing on core industries of rail and marine transportation, environmental services real estate, equipment sales and service, and mining.

The list of Washington's companies and marketplaces is a long one, but of particular interest to Vancouver is Seaspan International and all its divisions, including Vancouver shipyards.
