Innovation Corridor Vision - Information Session

Hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, the Cities of Vancouver and Surrey, will outline the vision for the two proposed corridor sites and welcome questions to support potential partners in the development of their project proposals.  The joint team recently published an addendum to the initial Call For Innovation that outlines the location of the proposed corridors and the key outcomes we would like to achieve through this opportunity.  This is a unique opportunity to showcase the latest technology in a globally renown region with opportunities to highlight applicability and impact in both the urban and suburban contexts.

Project proposals are being accepted until November 15th, 2018 at 3 pm .  The proposals are being requested in the form of a PowerPoint slide deck for which a template has been provided.  The deck will summarize the key characteristics of the proposal.  The decks will be used to shortlist projects and partners demonstrating the best alignment to the Call for Innovation and its associated addendums.  Part of the information session's objective is to review the desired format and to outline what will happen between November 15 and the shortlisting of potential projects and partners.

Background

The Cities of Vancouver and Surrey have the opportunity to design the future of smart and safe urban mobility. Our joint Smart Cities Challenge first stage application was chosen out of 130 submissions to be among the 20 finalists vying for federal funding of smart city projects designed to improve the quality of life of city residents. We are among the five finalists vying for funding in the $50 million category.

We are now in the process of composing our final application, which is to be submitted by March 5th, 2019. The preparation of our application provides us with the opportunity to design Vancouver's South False Creek Innovation Corridor and Surrey's University Drive Pilot and Innovation Boulevard Corridor. Together, these innovations have the potential to turn our cities into the global epicenter of smart mobility technology and to establish new global best practices in urban transportation planning.

We are seeking qualified companies to help us identify smart city technology project proposals that will help us to reinvent mobility in the proposed corridors pilot through the implementation and coordination of smart city technology and data projects. This is an exciting opportunity for firms of all sizes to partner with the Cities to showcase their solutions and demonstrate how they achieve our desired outcomes.

To date, all information related to the opportunity has been posted at smartertogether.ca and interested parties are encouraged to review the material thoroughly prior to the information session.
