Energy Infrastructure: An engine for collaboration and growth
The development of energy industry infrastructure has proven exceptional in its ability to positively impact the development of our province. From north to south and east to west, the energy sector has helped build bustling economic centres, and transformed local economies throughout western Canada and across our country. Our energy infrastructure is vital in ensuring our products reach global markets, but also benefits our communities by building other forms of infrastructure upon which we all rely, including schools, roads, hospitals and bridges. Marine Shipping: Safe and sustainable practices for the B.C. coast
As the opportunities expand for energy development along the B.C. coast, so does the focus on ensuring that the shipping of energy products is conducted in a safe and sustainable manner. Both federal and provincial government reports have identified gaps in the current marine safety regime and the public have made clear that marine shipping practices must protect the ocean environment and reduce impact on marine mammals. This panel will highlight the areas where science, innovation and technology, along with community engagement and policy makers are working together to meet the challenge.

However, changing global dynamics brought on by the U.S oil boom, fragmentation of OPEC supply controls, and the threat of climate change, have led many to think that the industry is operating within a "new normal." It is clear that the landscape of the energy market is transforming, and that the industry must adapt if it is to take advantage of these changes.
