How Vancouver's taxi providers are adapting to new transportation trends and technologies.

It's become abundantly clear that the residents and businesses of Greater Vancouver want more transportation options. The time has come to adapt to the changing world around us and embrace innovation in our passenger transportation industry.

Join us for an event with Peter Gall, Q.C., counsel to the Vancouver Taxi Association, who will discuss how the Association believes their proposed solution for the City's taxi needs best meets the public interest, by:

  • utilizing the latest technology to facilitate timely and convenient service;
  • providing sufficient taxis to meet consumer demand;
  • contributing to the City's green transportation goals through the use of electric cars;
  • and protecting the investments of the existing taxi businesses in the City who pay taxes and spend their earnings in the local community.

A research paper released in February by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade recommends the Government of British Columbia introduce new regulations that would pave the way for ridesharing across the province, while also launching a review of the Passenger Transportation Act and overhauling regulations to enable the traditional taxi industry to be more competitive.

Following Peter Gall's presentation he will be joined on stage by Jeff Lee, Reporter from the Vancouver Sun for a moderated Q and A.
