These annual awards are presented in honour of the late Wendy McDonald, a Canadian business icon who served as the first female Chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. The awards serve to increase the profile of outstanding women and champions of women in our community.

In early May 2020 we announced the evolution of the Women's Leadership Council to the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (DLC). For more information on the DLC.
In order to reflect the evolution from the Women’s Leadership Council to the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council, the DLC Advisory Committee will take the next year to reinvent and restructure these awards with the updated version to be launched for the 2020-21 program year.

Wendy McDonald served over 60 years as a leader in her family-owned international industrial distribution company, BC Bearing Engineers Limited, and later as BCB Corporate Services Ltd. for Norcan Fluid Power Ltd & BC Bearing Chile SA. Under her leadership, BC Bearing was recognized with a number of awards, including Power Transmission Distributor of the Year, and twice as one of the Top 50 Best-Managed Private Companies in Canada.
