Unlike any other organization, a university has not only a static impact, but also a dynamic impact on what we have come to know as the ‘innovation economy’. The knowledge creation and transmission roles played by universities fundamentally alter the productive capacity of the region and the nation over the long term.
The University of British Columbia is no exception. A brand new study, the results of which will be released to the public for the first time at this event, shows that the economic impact of UBC on the B.C. economy is of an order several times higher than generally believed.
Join Stephen Toope, president and vice-chancellor of UBC, as he discusses the findings of this report, as well as the ROI of investing in Canada’s research-intensive universities. Set to launch a new brand campaign and a new strategic plan this fall, Toope will also speak to what more is possible with a focused – and differentiated – higher-education investment strategy.
*Attendees will receive a précis of the full report entitled “The Economic Impact of The University of British Columbia,” by Walter Sudmant, Planning and Institutional Research, UBC.
Exclusive Women's Leadership Circle roundtable discussion To attend this 30-minute informal discussion with Prof. Stephen Toope immediately following the event, please note in the ‘Comments’ section of the on-line reservation that you will be attending. You must be a Women’s Leadership Circle® member to participate.
