The Vancouver Board of Trade's Governors' Banquet The Vancouver Board of Trade's inaugural Governors' Banquet was held in the year of The Board's Centenary, 1987. At that time, a special tradition was initiated: All past chairman of The Board were invested into The Board's honorary Council of Governors, which is available in an advisory capacity to the board of directors and officers of The Board.
Equally as important has been the theme of the evening. We have celebrated our neighbouring United States — Alaska and Washington, our partner in the North American Free Trade Association — Mexico, major universities, anniversaries of Australia, Austria and Switzerland, major British Columbia industrial sectors and Hong Kong at the time of its transition. Attending each of our dinners have been special guests from the Prime Minister of Australia, the Chief Secretary of Hong Kong to the Governors of Alaska and Washington State as well as the leaders of major British Columbia industries.
