Event Speeches & Presentations Archive Event Summary Board welcomes new chairman at sold-out PACIFIC ECONOMIC FORUM event for AGM Thursday, June 21, 2007 Board welcomes new chairman at sold-out PACIFIC ECONOMIC FORUM event for AGM
![]() Henry Lee, president of Tom Lee Music Company Ltd., was invested as The Vancouver Board of Trade’s new chairman at The Board’s sold-out 120th Annual General Meeting yesterday, which featured special guest speaker Dr. Stephen Covey. View photo gallery Lee received his gavel and chairman’s pin from outgoing chairman Frank Borowicz, QC, governance counsel to Davis LLP. In recognition of his term as chairman, Lee presented Borowicz with a sculpture of an elephant, commissioned by The Board and carved by The Board’s sculptor-in-residence, Geroge Pratt. Pratt used the elephant to symbolize Borowicz’s role as honorary consul to Sri Lanka. The Board also welcomed several new members to its board of directors during the AGM, presented by CN and sponsored by Tom Lee Music, PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. and the Sauder School of Business at UBC. Immediately following the business portion of the landmark 120th AGM, special guest speaker Dr. Stephen Covey, delivering a PACIFIC ECONOMIC FORUM™ lecture on 8th Habit Leadership, received a standing ovation from the sold-out crowd of 800 Board of Trade members and guests.
In thanks, David McLean, OBC, chair of CN, presented Covey with a gift of a First Nations talking stick. The gift was especially fitting, as June 21 is also National Aboriginal Day and Bill Wilson, hereditary chief of the Kwakgewlth/Musgamagw nation, was seated among the event’s distinguished guests. Congratulations on a fabulous AGM. It was undoubtedly one of the best AGMs I have ever attended, including many public company annual meetings. Dr. Covey was magnificent, the organization superb. Everyone left inspired to learn more and be better. Chief Bill Wilson said he wanted the meeting to go on all day! The use of the talking stick was wonderful and certainly added to it being National Aboriginal Day. Covey’s closing was brilliant. I give it a 9 on a scale of 1 to 9. — Dr. Owen Anderson, The Vancouver Board of Trade’s literary critic-in-residence The Vancouver Board of Trade wished to thank the sponsors of the 120th AGM: Presenting Sponsor:
