VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is proud to announce the launch of our newest initiative, the Community Spotlight Series. As part of our mandate to champion and celebrate businesses in the Greater Vancouver region, we, as a non-profit ourselves, want to use our platform to shine a spotlight on our non-profit members.

Each quarter we'll be recognizing a Vancouver-based non-profit that offers programs and services that improve the social and economic wellbeing of citizens in our community. You will see them at our events and across our various platforms including our blog and social media, as we share the wonderful work undertaken by each organization

The wellbeing of people and businesses are interlinked. As Western Canada's leading business association with a membership comprising one-third of B.C.’s work force we hold the mantle of responsibility to bridge the gap between the business community and our not-for-profit members, ensuring we all play our role in building up our communities.

This quarter, we're featuring the BC Centre for Ability. Under the leadership of Joshua Myers, the BC Centre for Ability designs and delivers community-based programs for persons with disabilities. They are on a quest to foster inclusive communities where every person thrives at all stages of life. Based in Vancouver but serving nearly 5,000 people across BC each year, they offer a wide range of programs to support people with disabilities to achieve personal goals and be meaningfully included in all aspects of life.

QUOTES

“Our purpose is to lead, unite and champion business to ensure Greater Vancouver is thriving and our region is the best place to live and work. It is with that goal in mind that we are launching the Community Spotlight Series to highlight GVBOT charity and not-for-profit members who are doing exemplary work within our communities.” - Bridgitte Anderson, President and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

“As a not-for-profit, GVBOT is acutely aware of the constraints and capacity challenges inherent in the sector. However, we know that by joining forces and empowering one another, we can engage our communities in a more holistic manner and together build a city that is stronger, more diverse, more resilient, and thriving.” - Juggy Sihota-Chahil, Chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade and its members in their commitment to supporting the work of non-profits and highlighting and uplifting the strengths, resiliency, and challenges of our sector in the communities we serve. Our communities are stronger and healthier when we work together as a collective business community, and we thank the GVBOT for their
