Dear Members,

Earlier this week our organization celebrated more than a century of business advocacy and community leadership at our 129th Annual General Meeting.

As part of the AGM, I was delighted to make a very special announcement and unveil the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s five inaugural Pillar Partners — TELUS, CN, Vancouver Airport Authority, Pacific Blue Cross, and BCIT.

Pillar Partners are very special relationships that are customized to the individual needs of the partners, themselves, and defined by a minimum-commitment, multi-year arrangement. In becoming Pillar Partners, these five organizations have advanced past their status as consistent and generous supporters of the work of the Board to become a cornerstone of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade going forward.

Not only are these five organizations integral parts of our institution, but they are also crucial supporters of British Columbia's business community as a whole, and they enable us to do the important public policy work and provide our unique and robust Member programming that we do on your behalf.

Annual Report now online

Our 129th AGM also allowed us to reflect on an extraordinary year, which included the achievement of a gender-balanced Board of Directors, the adoption of a new name, the unveiling of a new logo and website, and the launch of the Greater Vancouver Economic Scorecard — to name just a few key milestones.

I would encourage you to download our 2015-16 Annual Report to read more about our policy highlights from the past year and a parting message from your 2015-16 Chair, Tim Manning.

On behalf of the Directors, Governors, and staff of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, I’d like to once again thank Tim for his exceptional leadership and dedication to this organization over the past 12 months.

New Board of Directors elected

During the AGM our Members also elected 35 new Directors, including many senior leaders of the region's business community, to be led by our 2016-17 Chair, Robin Silvester, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
