Diversity and Inclusion Training 2.0

In partnership with CCDI Consulting, we are proud to be offering IDEA Essentials 2.0 for businesses in the Greater Vancouver area looking to build upon their IDEA Essentials 1.0 training and develop a deeper understanding on principals of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

IDEA Essentials 2.0 is an intermediate level program delivered online and incorporates presentations, case studies, as well as small and large group discussions. During the three sessions, participants will have an opportunity to expand their knowledge on their own dimensions of diversity while also discovering the benefits of creating an Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable and Accessible (IDEA) workplace.

The program is 6 hours total and is offered in two-hour blocks over three days.

Participants must attend all three sessions to obtain a Certificate of Completion from CCDI Consulting.

SESSION 1 — Monday, May 13

Managing Micro-Aggressions

This session will provide participants with a deeper understanding of the types of micro-aggressions, with examples and case study scenarios. Participants will consider how they can respond as the recipient or witness of a micro-aggression, as well as how to respond if they have been called out as an initiator.

SESSION 2 — Tuesday, May 14

Moving from Unconscious Bias to Conscious Inclusion

This session gives participants insight into how written and unwritten rules in an organization can negatively impact employees with diverse backgrounds and identities. We will address types of bias, the potential outcome of unconscious bias in the workplace, and provide personal strategies to mitigate the impact of these biases.

SESSION 3 — Wednesday, May 15

Understanding Privilege

This session explores the important but often misunderstood topic of privilege. Participants will have an opportunity to understand this topic in depth and learn strategies to use their privilege in positive ways for their colleagues and organization.
