From April 21 to 24, GVBOT’s President & CEO and Policy & Engagement Lead joined forces with over 100 business leaders from the Portland Metro Chamber and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber for the annual advocacy mission to Washington D.C.
The Cascadia Corridor trip brought together civic and business leaders to reinforce the deep economic, cultural, and transportation ties that unite our region and countries. Over the course of the mission, delegates participated in over 10 meetings with U.S. federal legislators, Senate and House committee staff, the Washington State Department of Transportation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dzung, among others. These discussions highlighted shared priorities across the Cascadia region.
Meetings included:
U.S. Senate and House of Representatives
- Senator Jeff Merkley (Oregon)
- Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (Washington)
- Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington)
- Congresswoman Emily Randall (Washington)
- Congresswoman Susan DelBene (Washington)
- Congresswoman Kim Schrier (Washington)
- Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (Oregon)
- Congresswoman Val Hoyle (Oregon)
- Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (Oregon)
- Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (Oregon)
- Staff from Senator Ron Wyden’s Office (Oregon)
- Staff from Senator Patty Murray’s Office (Washington)
A key focus of the conversations was the importance of maintaining a stable and predictable Canada ‑ U.S. relationship. With the upcoming CUSMA review and major events like the World Cup ahead, delegates underscored the value for continued dialogue, coordinated investment, and strong trade ties.We share the view that certainty is essential to sustaining cross-border prosperity. As we navigate an increasingly complex global environment, continued collaboration, open communication, and a strong regional partnership will be more important than ever.
We thank our partners at the Portland and Seattle chambers for their collaboration and hospitality. We look forward to building this momentum and strengthening our economic ties ahead.
