The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade is deeply saddened by the passing of Grayden Hayward.
He served on GVBOT's Board of Directors for more than 20 years, holding both Vice-Chair and Executive roles. He was also GVBOT's Interim President & CEO during a leadership transition in 2011. Grayden left a lasting and positive impact on our team and the business community broadly.
Grayden started his career as a chartered accountant in Ontario and made his way to B.C. He worked as City Administrator in two B.C. cities, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Recreation, and Culture as well as Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs in B.C.
After moving to Vancouver, Grayden became Vice President of Trans Mountain and later Vice President and CFO of the Bentall Company.
In addition to his volunteering with GVBOT, Grayden was the president of two golf clubs, spent six years on the board of the VSO, and served nine years as a Director on the board of YVR. His last significant volunteer work was creating the Pacific Autism Family Centre in Richmond.
Once fully retired, Grayden moved to Tsawwassen where he enjoyed the peace, quiet, and sunshine of his new community. On behalf of the Greater Vancouver business community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
